This camp served as the foundation for our Hawaii x Japan Exchange program for 2023-2024. Carissa and her father, Chris, led participants through a series of exercises in both the pool and the ocean to help them prepare for their upcoming trip to Hawaii with the ultimate goal of ensuring comfortability in challenging conditions. In addition, they engaged in various Japanese cultural activities and experiences to gain insight into what to include in the itinerary for the Hawaii group’s visit to Japan in 2024 - always with the idea of honoring the integrity of cultural backgrounds in mind.
